Spiio in-ground soil sensors can monitor volumetric water content, salinity, temperature, and sunlight when installed vertically. Readings are taken once every hour and transmitted via built-in cellular communication, AT&T or T-Mobile, to the mobile app and desktop platform. This happens up to six times daily on your chosen schedule. Syngenta worked with Spiio developers to create Greencast Connect, a new mobile app with a free version and one that directly integrates with the Spiio sensor readings. The app offers 3.2 square mile weather resolution, pest monitoring, growing degree days, note taking capabilities, and push alerts with the sensors. The app can be accessed from anywhere and gives the user the ability to monitor from off site. Sensors can be installed in a variety of settings with a depth that is relevant to its needs. With Spiio soil sensors and the Greencast Connect app, users can make actionable decisions. Irrigation events can be optimized, users can manage salt and flushing events, fertilizer applications can be reflected in salt readings, temperature can be monitored for application or cultural practices, and users can set up alerts for check-in. These tools will lead to better allocated water, better timed applications, labor efficiency, historical information, and increased communication.
