Discovered by Gurjit Sidhu as a chance seedling in a trail garden with unnamed and unpatented plants of Paxistima mysinites in British Columbia, Canada.
Introduced by Gurjit Sidhu of Sidhu & Sons Nursery.

A low evergreen native. ‘PaxSid1′ grows prostrate to 3’ high, with dark, leathery leaves 1″ across and tiny red flowers. Provides year-round greenery with little to no watering and care. ‘PaxSid1′ serves as a great native replacement for Buxus with its bushy upright habit and nice branching. Found on dry, rocky slopes from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Coast. Grows to 3′ wide by 3’ tall. Zones 5a–10b.
