A vital new initiative for Sustainability in the Green Industry.
Free with Farwest Show registration.

The Climate Summit at the 2025 Farwest Show brings together industry leaders, innovators, and environmental experts for two impactful days of insight, action, and collaboration around climate change and sustainability in the green industry.
This free event — open to all Farwest Show registered attendees — provides a unique opportunity to explore challenges and discover actionable solutions that support both the planet and your business.
Summit Schedule:
Day 1: Research-Driven Discovery
Wednesday, August 20 | 1:30–3:30 p.m. | Room A106
Panel: Lloyd Nackley of Oregon State University, Chad Higgins of Oregon State University, Daniel Hua of the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, Adam Farley of Countryside Nursery, and Tyler Meskers of Oregon Flowers. Additional participants may be announced as details are finalized.
We know we’re a green industry, but we need the data to back it up. Day 1 focuses on scientific quantification — especially the lifecycle and carbon sequestration impact of trees and plants. From reducing urban heat islands to cleaning the air, our products already support climate goals. With updated methods and metrics, we can prove it. Forestry is ahead of us in this regard. It’s time we catch up — and lead.
Day 2: Policy Roundtable — engaging policymakers and growers in a collaborative discussion on the role of nursery industry on climate policy.
Thursday, August 21 | 1:30–3:30 p.m. | Room A106
Roundtable: Megan Boutwell of Stillwater & Associates, Margi Hoffman of the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, Nora Apter of Climate Solutions, Lisa Hanson of Oregon Department of Agriculture, Adam Farley of Countryside Nursery, and Tyler Meskers of Oregon Flowers. Staff from Congresswoman Andrea Salinas’ office and Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici’s office will also join the discussion. Additional participants may be announced as details are finalized.
Meaningful climate action depends on effective policy. Day 2 will feature a roundtable with climate leaders from state and environmental organizations, exploring key strategies and opportunities. Topics will include:
- Carbon sequestration through plant production
- Lifecycle benefits in the built environment
- Agricultural mitigation practices
- Participation in carbon credit markets
- Regulatory relief and incentives
- Access to technical assistance for growers of all sizes
We’ll identify real pathways for aligning policy with industry needs.
Why Attend?
The Climate Summit at the Farwest Show is more than a conversation — it’s a call to action. Whether you’re a grower, researcher, supplier, or policymaker, this is your opportunity to:
Join the Conversation!
Be part of shaping a sustainable future for the nursery and greenhouse industry. The Climate Summit offers a platform to learn, engage, and collaborate on actionable solutions to environmental challenges. Whether it’s shaping legislation, securing tax credits for sustainable practices, or advocating for technical support, growers must be part of the conversation. We can’t afford to have climate policies written without us in the room.
