Vitex

Vitex ‘Busy Bee’

Bred by Jim Berry in Grand Saline, TX and introduced by J Berry Nursery

‘Busy Bee’ is a more compact form of Vitex with a tidy, well-branched habit and elegant palmate leaves. Not dwarf, but much more compact than the species and other cultivars, with mature plants that are more than 4 years old and only reaching 6’ tall. Flowers are an attractive purple, held in loose panicles. They flower on the new wood, and unlike the species, will continue to produce blooms all summer long on the new growth. It’s low maintenance and drought tolerant, and great for use in borders, pollinator gardens, mass plantings or containers. It is a pollinator magnet, attractive to butterflies and bees all summer, and deer resistant! Grown as a woody shrub in Zones 7 and south and makes an outstanding herbaceous perennial in Zones 5–6.
Zone 5-9 | Size: 6’x5′

Available as 2 gallon containers from Meridian Young Plants (Booth 12055).
