Eilers Beauty™ Fescue
Festuca ovina subspecies
Collected in Turkey by Henry Eilers and introduced by Emerald Coast Growers.
Eilers Beauty™ has fine-textured rich matte-green blades. Its sun-catching, light tan seed heads rise above foliar clumps on red-tinged stems. Most Festuca varieties on the market have glaucous blue foliage and insignificant flower/seed heads. Eilers Beauty™ gives a very different look. Adaptable to various conditions, even tough situations like dry shade. The foliage stands 8–10 inches high by 12–16 inches wide; with flowers and seed heads rising to 20 inches. It makes a good specimen in a small planting but is most effective in masses and/or as edging. Zones 4–8.
Available as 50-cell liner trays from Emerald Coast Growers (Booth 17058) and Walla Walla Nursery (Booth 12019).
