Juke Box™ Pyracomeles
× Pyracomeles ‘NCXP1’ USPPAF
Bred by Dr. Thomas Ranney in North Carolina and introduced by Spring Meadow Nursery and Proven Winners.
This remarkable new dwarf broadleaf evergreen could be mistaken for a boxwood or small holly at first glance, but it comes without the threat of boxwood blight or spider mites. It has a natural, globelike habit but can be sheared and shaped as desired. Fine branching creates a full habit. × Pyracomeles is an intergeneric hybrid between Pyracantha and Oseomeles, but it has no thorns and does not flower. Plant in sun or partial shade and mass plantings, edging, groundcover, low hedges, foundation plantings. Heat tolerant. Hardy down to 0 F (-17 C). Zones 7–9.
Available as 1–3 gallon containers from Proven Winners (Booth 3049).
