Discovered by Gurjit Sidhu at Sidhu and Sons Nursery in Mission, B.C., Canada and introduced by Sidhu and Sons Nursery Ltd.

This new introduction to the plant world is less than half the size of its parent, Royal Purple. Velveteeny inherited the beautiful, rich foliage of Royal Purple, but it’s “teeny”! Velveteeny is the ideal smokebush for patio planters and space-challenged yards in urban areas. Very low maintenance pruning required. Selected from parent cultivar ‘Royal Purple’ but more compact — great for planters and smaller spaces. Reaches 4 feet tall and wide. Hardy to zone 4.
