Sunjoy Mini Maroon™ is the first sterile barberry! It offers the same rich color and versatile habit you expect from barberry, but with absolutely no nuisance seedlings to spread around. It features dark purple-black foliage and is a sterile, dwarf variety. The plant does flower and produce fruit but the seed is not viable. Reaches 1–2 feet tall and 2–4 feet wide. Plant in full sun and use for mixed borders, ground cover, edging, and foundation plantings. Prune to shape as needed. Sunjoy Mini Maroon™ tolerates cold to -30 F (-34 C) and is adaptable to most soils. Hardy to Zones 4–8.
