SUMMARY:Advancing Boxwood Blight Monitoring Techniques
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Luisa Santamaria\, Ph.D.\, Professor\, Extension Plant Pathologist\, Oregon State University \nBoxwood plants\, which are widely utilized in gardening and landscaping\, are seriously threatened by boxwood blight\, which is caused by the fungus Calonectria pseudonaviculata. For disease management\, prompt detection and efficient monitoring are essential. With the intention of improving the effectiveness of boxwood blight detection\, this talk explores important aspects to consider while monitoring. We investigate ways to improve observation methods by looking at symptomatology\, cultural practices\, and environmental factors. In the end\, an effective boxwood blight scouting strategy will help with the early diagnosis\, mitigation\, and preservation of boxwood landscapes as well as the production of healthy plants.

Prior to the event\, the process varied for different crew members: communication was inconsistent and crew members had to search the farm for the needed products. Learn how the team applied Lean principles to reduce motion and defects and increase productivity while improving communication and teamwork in their order pulling process. \nEstudio de Caso: Aplicacion de los Principios Lean a la Extraccion de pedidos en JLPN\nEn febrero de este ano\, JLPN organizo un evento de mejora rapida (Kaizen™) centrado en su proceso de extracion de pedidos para los clientes. Antes del evento\, el proceso variaba segun los diferentes miembros de la cuadrilla. la comunicacion era inconsistente y los miembros de la cuadrilla tuvieron que buscar en toda la granja el producto nesesario. Venga a aprender como el equipo aplico los principios Lean para reducir el movimiento y los defectos y aumentar la productividad\, mientras mejoraba la comunicacion y el trabajo en equipo en su proceso de extracionde pedidos.
